[ FORMAT FOR CHAPTER FOUR ]

The following is the outline of Chapter 4 - if you are doing an OPTION I Research Project format.

Running Head 4

IV. Description of the Intervention ( if Option I)

Introduction

Give a brief review of the problem in this section, but no more than a few paragraphs. Then, tell the
purpose of this chapter - which is to establish the objectives (and hypotheses depending on the Option
being used) and described the intervention (or Alternatives if an Option III project).

Statement of the Objectives

In this section you will specify the OBJECTIVES of the Research Project. These Objectives will include the
"when," "where," "what," who," and "how much" variables that need to be used when writing an
objectives.

Description of Intervention

Here you will tell the reader what you intend to do to achieve the stated objective. In essence, you tell the
reader exactly what steps will be used to arrive at the actual achievement of the goals.

Summary

In this section you help the reader understand exactly how "this chapter" fits into the overall research
process.

(Hint: this chapter helps the reader see a possible end result of the research process, through the defined objectives)

IV. Description of the Proposed Intervention ( if an Option II is use)

Introduction

* See above

Statement of the Objectives

Objective 1

*See above

          Hypothesis 1

          A hypothesis is a statement of fact about what you believe to be true. For instance, if my "objective" wto raise total revenues by 10% over the next calendar year - then my "hypothesis may say something like "..total revenues have been significantly decreasing for the past two years." And, it is this hypothesis that becomes the thing you measure in the following chapters.

Objective 2

         Hypothesis 1

        Remember that each Objective will have a related hypothesis…

         Hypothesis 2

         You can have more than one hypothesis for each Objective

Description of the Proposed Intervention

* See above

Data Collection Plan

Remember that the data you will be gathering will be to "prove or disprove" the hypothesis stated above.

IV. Description of the Alternatives ( if Option III)

Introduction

* See above

Statement of Objectives

* See above

Description of the Alternatives ((( Each Alternative should be discussed - refer to manual for more details )))

            History or Background of Alternative

            Resources Needed

            Steps in the Alternative

            Impact on the System

           Values of the Alternative

          Feasibility of Implementation
