I. Description of the Problem

Introduction

Here you tell the reader the purpose for this chapter, which is to identify and clarify the problem situation through a review of the setting and background related to the project (1 paragraph)
 

Purpose of the Thesis

In this paragraph you will tell the reader very briefly what you hope to accomplish through this research project. (Usually 1 paragraph)
 

Setting of the Problem

Here you describe the location of the problem.. where does it exist? Also, tell what the company looks like.. What it does.. something about its leadership.. etc. (Maybe 3+ paragraphs)
 

Background / History of the Problem

Here you would tell how long it's been a problem... who it affects.. and what has been done in the past to fix it... (Maybe 3+ paragraphs)
 

Scope of the Thesis

Here you tell what you generally plan to do to try and remedy the problem (not in great detail - just what intervention you hope will help.. Maybe 1-2 paragraphs)
 

Importance of the Significance of Thesis

Here you tell what you think will change as a result of your intervention (or how your company is expected to benefit if it accepts your recommendations for change) [maybe 1-2 paragraphs]
 

Summary

Here you tell the reader how this chapter contributes to the overall research project ...by doing what (summarize - maybe 1 paragraph)

Terms

Here is a section reserved for defining terms not typically understood without explanation
 

Please remember that you are writing from the 3rd person not from the 1st person... this is not allowed in formal documents. So, avoid the use of I, me, My, and Mine in your text. Also, use the HEADINGS indicated above. And, avoid contractions. Use 1" margins on ALL sides.
