Saturday College on Monday Evenings
Summer 2007


In response to a combination of adult learner demand and potential needs for area undergraduate college students working summer jobs, the College of Professional Studies has scheduled two additional general educational course modules on Monday evenings this coming summer term. Modules planned are as follows:


HUM 293: Music Appreciation Seminar (3 credit hours): An overview of music that focuses on how societies influence the creation and performance of music, and cultivation of an awareness of musical styles in order to listen to music intelligently using basic musical concepts and terms in describing the music heard. Note: This module will satisfy the fine arts requirement for the A.A. or B.S. degree at OVU.

Meeting dates: Mondays, May 14, 21, June 4, 11, 18. (No class Memorial Day.)
Hours: 6:00-10:00 pm.
Location: Stanley Center, South Campus.
Facilitator: Laura Hamm, B.S., M.A.T. candidate, NCTM, member of the music faculty at OVU


ECO 237: Principles of Microeconomics (3 credit hours) or ECO 391: Managerial Economics (3 credit hours) Study of specific economic units in a capitalist market system (individuals, firms, and industries) focusing on the pricing and output of goods, services, and resources in various market structures. Students seeking ECO 391 credit will write an extended research project addressing managerial applications of microeconomic theory. Note: this module will satisfy a social science requirement for a B.S. or A.A. degree at OVU.

Meeting dates: Mondays, July 9, 16, 23, 30, August 6.
Hours: 6:00-10:00 pm
Location: Stanley Center, South Campus

Enrollment in either module can be used to satisfy specific general educational requirements for graduation as noted above, or may be used for elective credit for any OVU degree. Enrollment is open to either current or prospective adult learners enrolled in the College of Professional Studies, or currently enrolled students in the Undergraduate College of Ohio Valley University.

Cost: Tuition based on 2007-2008 CPS rate of $250.00 per credit hour plus textbook fees. Adult learners enrolled in a CPS degree program prior to April 1, 2007 will be charged at the rate contracted when initially enrolled.
