Business Leadership 2007
The Ohio Valley University College of Professional Studies announces its third annual certificate / degree endorsement offering in Business Leadership during Spring 2007.
Required modules for the 12-credit hour certificate of endorsement are as follows:
- MGT 381--Introduction to Leadership (3 hrs): Overview of key models of leadership, including leader-match theory, contingency theory, situational leadership theory, continuum of leadership behavior, and characteristics of effective leadership prevalent in business and psychological literature.
- MGT 382--Leadership Principles & Values (3 hrs): Overview of the responsibilities of leadership in corporate and other organizational structures, including social and ethical responsibilities of leaders. Topics will include principle-based leadership based on biblical values.
- MGT 383--Team Building Seminar (3 hrs): Focus upon building group leadership skills. Class activities will focus upon identifying and assessing individual leadership styles, group dynamics, coaching, and conflict resolution.
- MGT 384--Motivation in Leadership (3 hrs): Focus on theories of persuasion, social influence, and personal and situational factors in the success and effectiveness of leadership. Study will include examples of leaders in business, politics, military, and other historical environments.
These modules may be used as elective hours toward an existing Associate or Bachelor's degree program through the Ohio Valley University Institute for Adult Learning, or as a "stand-alone" program for an adult learner seeking advanced study in management and leadership. Enrollment is limited to working adults, age 25 or older, with current/prior work experience and one or more year's previous college/university credit.
All classes will be scheduled Monday evenings, 6:00-10:00 over the following dates:

(*) There will be a one-week break between the end of Module 2 and beginning of Module 3; this is to facilitate financial aid eligibility for adult learners concurrently enrolled in ADVANCE.
