In response to adult student demand, the College for Professional Studies offers a degree program for working adults leading to an Associate of Arts degree in Professional Studies. Course work can be completed entirely through weekend and/or weeknight classes. A student with some prior college credit or significant technical/professional training can complete the degree in as little as 12 months. Students with little or no prior university credit can complete the program in 18 months or less.
Program Admission Requirements:
Adult students, age 25 or older, preferably with current or prior work experience
An accredited high school diploma or General Equivalency(GED)Degree
Complete Application for Adult Enrollment and provide official transcripts of high school/GED/any prior college study and $35 application fee.
Degree Requirements:
English and Humanities.............................15 hours
Math, Science and Computer Science......12 hours
Social Science ( including 3 hrs. History)..12 hours
Orientation and Adult Health..................... 3 hours
Total Classroom Requirement.............48 hours
16 or more additional hours may be earned through
prior college credit, Technical/Professional credit,
or Credit for Prior Learning for life experience.
Total Degree Requirement...................64 hours
All classes are offered in weekend/evening adult learning format:
Currently scheduled classes meet on Saturdays, either 8:00 a.m. to Noon or from
1:00 to 5:00 p.m. Additional courses may be offered on Monday evenings from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. dependent upon student demand. The adult learning format stresses group learning and interaction with a qualified classroom facilitator, independent study, and writing and application of course content in lieu of traditional exams (most courses). Students are expected to devote 2 to 3 hours for study and homework outside of class for each hour in clsss.
